Vinted Members Share Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
