The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of frozen Russian funds to support Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be carried out in tight collaboration with the US.

UK restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's resources since Russia initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's funds had exclusively been sourced from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward using the total worth of the seized Russian sovereign assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that more restrictions soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This announcement is subsequent to European Union representatives convened in the Danish capital recently to debate using seized Russian holdings for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump encouraged G7 allies to take or utilize seized Russian assets, according to reports.

The value of frozen Russia's holdings in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.
