The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a different setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, visionary style to the television.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
