Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
