Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
